About Cherie

Cherie Appel is a GYROTONIC® & GYROKINESIS® Specialized Master Trainer and movement educator based in Maui, Hawaii. She has a background in movement, expressive arts, music technology and recording engineering. She is a natural mover and lover of life.
Cherie believes that with clear intention, focused attention and consistent practice any person can live and move freely through life with strength, centeredness and grace. With her encouraging and patient approach, she aims to cultivate an enjoyable movement practice through positivity and receptivity, whether in personal practice or in teacher training. Cherie aims to facilitate conscious embodiment in herself and her students. Her intention is facilitate the understanding of the anatomy of both the physical body and the subtle body to experience more than just the external physical expression, but a deeper, more integrated whole being. She is committed to helping people bring conscious awareness to their bodies and themselves to create balance, freedom, strength, flexibility, healing and wholeness. Cherie has trained extensively with Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis creator Juliu Horvath and many Specialised Master Trainers in the US, the UK, Europe and Brasil. Alongside her professional work, Cherie has enjoyed learning rock climbing, Argentine Tango, Biofield Tuning and Qi Gong for personal enjoyment and growth. She enjoys Nature and discovering new and creative ways to learn, grow and expand. The Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis methods with their integration of fluid natural movements, breath, energy and rhythm have been a seminal part of Cherie’s personal development, one which she truly enjoys sharing. She has been practicing the methods for over 25 years and will continue to learn and grow within the methods for life. Cherie has also trained in anatomy for movement and has practiced yoga and meditation for 35 years. She is passionate about teaching and learning and considers herself a lifelong student in the school of Life.
